Relais Bien-Être

Enjoy a casual family meal in an idyllic haven

It’s all in the name here. Relais Bien-Être is an idyllic haven where you will relax, fully unwind and enjoy the fabulous hospitality and French cuisine of Pas-de-Calais, far from the hustle and bustle of the cities.

Not far from Lille or Lens, Relais Bien-Être is a transformed fisherman’s cafe in the heart of the Cabiddu nature and leisure park in the small town of Wingles.

This well-placed spot offers the very best French dishes in a spectacular rural setting overlooking a lake in acres of pine forest. It is popular with locals and visitors alike.

Imagine watching the sunset over the lake with a cocktail in hand and enjoying a blast of culinary excellence inspired by the Opal Cast as the jazz band takes the stage. You’ll feel as if you have tapped into the best of local knowledge in this special place and favoured haunt.

A place for everyone

Relais Bien-Être is a perfect place for families, friends or couples. The local nature reserve provides a host of outdoor activities, from walking and cycling to watersports. The location of the restaurant is perfect if you want to combine family fun with some really great French food.

The restaurant is also a worthy destination in its own right. The restaurant offers a relaxed setting overlooking the lake, and it is also furnished with beanbags, welcomes dogs, and provides plenty of ways to unwind after a day in the park.

Popular with French families, this place is great if you want to feel less like a tourist and more like a regular.

Explore the best of local cuisine

The menu at Relais Bien-Être is carefully curated; there’s a short menu of signature dishes and a longer list that features plenty of local, seasonal produce.

The constantly evolving menu favours ingredients in their prime, so you’re never disappointed. Try the chef’s special discovery menu, or ‘blind’ menu, and be presented with the very best of what’s in season.

Perhaps you’ll get fish cassolette with produce caught that morning on the nearby coast – or duck breast with curried parsnip puree. You might even discover their parmesan shortbread, candied tomato and roasted peanut tapenade.

If you don’t fancy a full meal, there is a popular bar menu with lighter offerings made with equally fresh ingredients. This is a relaxed place, albeit one that takes its food very seriously.

Make friends with an expert team of hosts

The hosts and their team describe themselves as ‘dedicated to your well-being’, and they certainly are. You can expect wine recommendations from the boss who will also guide you through your menu choices.

The handcrafted cocktail list is also popular. Expect generous measures and a team happy to help you pair your meal with the perfect drink. Whatever you choose, you’ll quickly find yourself able to unwind and relax.

A full programme of activities to enjoy, too

Latin-themed nights, dance classes and even yoga sessions are held here during the day. You may even stumble across one of the many local bands who come here to try out their new material.

There are no formalities here. Whatever is going on, you are guaranteed to receive a warm welcome. Even in the cooler months, the terrace is the perfect suntrap.

Far from the hustle and bustle of the cities nearby, this is an unspoiled treasure. A locals’ favourite. Imagine off-season Ibiza, just even more accessible and laid back.

Places to visit…

Take time to enjoy the neighbouring Marcel Cabiddu nature and leisure park full of adventure activities. Covering 50 hectares, the park includes extensive lakes and five fishing ponds. From canoeing and windsurfing to archery, mini-golf, and inflatable games, there are plenty of adult and kids’ activities on offer all year round. You can even camp in the park itself.
